Joseph Edgar Foreman, known by the world as Afroman, brought his one-man show through Des Moines, Iowa on November 21st, 2019.

Despite the fact that this dude has been in the game for over 20 years now, this was my first opportunity to catch one of his shows. And luckily, I was able to bring my camera with me to catch the events of the evening as they unfolded.

After a fun and interactive set from Des Moines’ own B.Well, Afroman took the stage at about 10:15 pm. Typically, I’d be pissed that the headliner wasn’t already out and halfway through their set by now, but after all, we are talking about the same guy who was going to go to work – but then he got high.

From the moment Afroman took the stage, the crowd was in non-stop party mode, and a haze of sweet, skunky smoke blanketed Wooly’s as I’ve never seen before.

Blazing through a set that lasted roughly 45 minutes and included all of his hits – namely, all of the songs we grew up loving from Good Times album – he closed out the show with the two obvious choices – Because I Got High and Crazy Rap (Colt 45 & 2 Zig Zags).

Super fun set from a super cool guy who even stopped to take a selfie with me after the show.

Achievement unlocked.
