You can love him or you can hate him, but Marilyn Manson is still making music after all of these years. And now, the king of modern-day shock rock is tapping his inner Johnny Cash with a video for his most recent cover. This time, he’s taking on the ever-popular folk song, God’s Gonna Cut You Down.

Directed by Tim Mattia and released on Loma Vista Recordings, the video looks and feels like… Well… Manson in a Johnny Cash video.

The song itself reminds me of the old Sopranos theme – Woke Up This Morning, by English band Alabama 3, but I’ll leave that for you to decide for yourself.

The video is fairly short; it’s only 2:50 long, and you can check it out below:

Manson is also releasing a limited edition picture disc that will include original watercolor artwork by Marilyn himself, as well as the audio track for this song.

Said picture disc will run you $25 and you can pre-order it here with an expected shipping date of December 13th, 2019.

You’d better hurry if you want one, though – only 3,000 copies will be available worldwide, and once they’re gone, they’re gone.

What do you think?

Yay or nay on the new cover?
